We will kick of HoCo with MUMDAY! Think huge flowers decorated with personality and school spirit worn as corsages. This tradition is big in Texas, so we are going to remix our small homecoming mum tradition with a little southwest flair. Check out the images below, and start creating your own. We will wear mums on mumday.
Also on Monday, March 29 we will have our first-ever, on-campus, during-the-school-day scavenger hunt!
Each grade level may have eight teams made of up five people on each team. When you have your team members' names, use the Google Form linked below to sign up. You will be out of class on Monday, March 29 to participate in the scavenger hunt. All team members should report to Hardegree's room 402 by 7:20 A.M. At least one person per team needs to have a fully charged cell phone with the Goose Chase app downloaded. The first scavenger hunt will last from 7:30-10:30. One team from each grade level will be declared winners. Then each winning team from each grade level will compete in the final four scavenger hunt from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. At the end of the day, we will declare an overall winner. There are some basic rules for the hunt: Team members may not get anyone out of class. Team members must be kind and not cheat. Team members should not run or participate in horse play. If any team acts unbecoming of an MGM student, the team will be disqualified. Sign up now before the team slots are all taken! This activity is only available for in-person learners.
Tuesday, March 30
On Tuesday of homecoming week, we will remix the fashion of the Pandemic. Let's wear our pajamas to school. You may wear pajama pants and a tshirt. Make sure your pants and tshirt are school appropriate. It must be pajama pants and a t-shirt with no offensive symbols or slogans.
Also on Tuesday, March 30, we will have a picnic.
At the end of second block on Tuesday, March 30, freshmen and sophomores can report to the cafeteria to pick up their lunches then report to the football field. If students bring their own lunches, they may report directly to the football field. Students will have from 10:45 until 11:30 to enjoy lunch on the field. Students may sit in the bleachers or bring their own towels or picnic blankets to sit on the grass. We will play music and enjoy a nice, long outdoor lunch in celebration of homecoming week. Re-lax, Re-fresh, Re-mix
At 11:30, freshmen and sophomores will be dismissed from the field to report back to their fourth block classes.
At 12:00 P.M. Juniors and Seniors will be released for lunch. If they are getting cafeteria lunches, they may report directly to the cafeteria to get lunch then report to the football field. Students may also go directly to the football field if not receiving a cafeteria lunch. Juniors and Seniors may enjoy their picnic lunch until 12:45. At that time, they should report to fourth block. This activity is available only to in-person learners.

Wednesday, March 31
Wednesday, March 31 is Whatever Wednesday. Students may wear out-of-uniform clothes to school on this day. I think about now, we shrug our shoulders about the year 2020, throw up our hands and just say, "Whatever." None of it made sense, right? Of course, whatever can't really be whatever. There are rules for how you can dress.
- Shorts must be longer than 3" shorts. Any shorts you wear must go to mid thigh. If you think your shorts may be too short, they are.
- Skirts must pass the fingertip test. The hem of your skirt must be as long as your fingertips when you hold your arms straight down by your side. Your tennis skirts and LuluLemon skirts are probably not long enough.
- jeans/pants--yes, you may wear distressed jeans; however, they can not be the jeans with the huge gaping holes especially in the thigh area. There must be more denim than there are holes. Slight distressing is fine, but NO BIG HOLES.
- Your tops must have sleeves. You may not wear anything sleeveless or with spaghetti straps or with one sleeve. No tank tops are allowed. You may not wear a crop top of any kind. No stomach/midriff may show even when you lift your arms. Nothing backless is allowed. No low necklines and nothing tight or see-through.
- Do not wear hats or anything on your heads.
- You may not wear anything with offensive material or advertisement of items illegal or innapropriate for ages 18 and under. Do not wear anything political or divisive.
- If you choose to wear leggings, your shirt MUST cover your rear. If you wear leggings, your shirt must cover your rear and hips all the way around.
- If you feel these requirements are unfair, you are welcome to wear your school unform. I understand fashion is fashion; however, we've got to look right for school, y'all. We aren't going out.
- Students will be checked by first block teachers. If a first block teacher believes a student is dressed inappropriately, the student will be sent to the sponsor, S Hardegree. Then, it will be determined if she student can change, call a parent for a change of clothing, or spend the day learning virtually while visiting in-school suspension. If in doubt about your fit, bring a change of clothes.
Also on Wednesday, March 31, we will have the TikTok Challenge!
On Wednesday, March 31, go to @marygmontgomery on TikTok and duet the most recent video showing your school spirit. Use the hashtag #gooddayattheG. Make sure you have "share" turned on TikTok so we can see and share your post.
Thursday, April 1
"You've done nothing but stare at your computer all day."
"Watch all your class recordings."
"Submit all your work through Schoology."
"Get your face out of your phone."
"Don't you think you should go outside and do something active?"
UGH!
The Pandemic brought us much screen time. Unfortunately it also cancelled sporting events. Playing seasons were put on hold. We didn't get to play. We didn't get to watch our favorite teams as they had to sit out. No one could attend sporting events and cardboard cutouts took the places of real fans in the seats. Let's remix this downer and rep our favorite teams on this day. If you play and have a jersey, wear it. If you cheer for a certain team, wear their colors. On this day of Homecoming Week let's wear our sports jerseys, sports team t-shirts and spirit wear. You may wear SCHOOL-APPROPRIATE jeans on this day. Oh, and if you feel the need to rep a high school, it must be the MGM Vikings. No other schools are allowed in OUR HOUSE.
